Mark Mercer is one of New York City’s most exciting new male singer/songwriters. With musical influences that include George Michael, Annie Lennox, Sade & Savage Garden, Mark Mercer updates the swirling rhythms of 80s pop & 70’s dance music to a sound that is familiar yet unique.
Mark Mercer’s new album Nothing Like It is nothing short of its title. Mark has compiled a collection of songs that deal with universal themes of love, sex & relationships (Nothing Like It, Show Me How) -while also taking on important political issues like war, discrimination & gay marriage (Embrace, Chapel of Love).
“Even on Nothing Like It’s two instantly likable "message" songs—‘Chapel of Love’ and ‘Embrace’-- Mercer never sacrifices the listener's pleasure. Like Madonna's early stuff, this is feel-good music. Mercer's voice undeniably evokes not only the blue-eyed soul vocal style of Boy George... but at times, the youthful romanticism of his voice makes him sound astonishingly like George Michael”–Jed Ryan (PM Entertainment)
Mark knew his destiny when at age 5 he saw his first concert. Donna Summer live in Las Vegas gave Mark a true respect for the power of dance music and the importance of great showmanship. Following in the tradition of music greats including Melissa Etheridge, John Mayer, and Quincy Jones, Mark’s talent and ambition led him to the prestigious Berklee College of Music, where he completed his degree while simultaneously recording two full-length CDs.
